Day 1 Arrive Blantyre – Mulanje
Upon arrival at Chileka International Airport in Blantyre you will be met by our representative and transferred to Mulanje. Get settled into Likhubula Forest Lodge and take a nap if you desperately need one. Today is a low-key day so you can shrug off the jetlag (if you arrived on an international flight) and get adjusted. At 1900hrs we will meet up at the reception for a briefing on the tour and a chance to meet fellow travelers. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2 Lujeri Tea Estate – Madzeka Forest Hut
Today is a day of epic hiking and a chance to see more of the iconic Mulanje Mountain. Set off on a drive to Lujeri Tea Estate and the start off the Mount Mulanje hike. The views of the rain forested Ruo Gorge along the way are amazing. Your first night will be spent at the charming Madzeka Forest hut.

Day 3 Madzeka Forest Hut - Thuchila Plateau
Grab a hearty breakfast and start your second hiking day on the vast Thuchila Plateau via Chinzama Hut all the way up to Elephant Head Viewpoint with it’s impressive views. Arrive at Thuchila Forest hut your accommodation for the night.

Day 4 Thuchila Forest Hut - Sapitwa
The third day of hiking is perhaps the most beautiful of the trip. Be sure to eat a hearty breakfast, because today you are embarking on a day-long hike the Sapitwa peak. Make your way through Chisepho valley and then start to climbing to the highest point of the trail – Sapitwa (unreachable as translated in the local Chichewa language). Descend to Chisepho hut for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 Chisepho Hut to Likhubula Lodge
You will be woken up early with tea or coffee. Take it easy on the descent down to Likhubula via Chapaluka path with a stop at Likhubula Falls and don your swim suit for a dip into Dziwe la Nkhalamba “old man’s pool”. Return to Likhubula Lodge for a relaxing dinner and overnight.

Day 6 Mulanje to Chileka International Airport
After breakfast, head to the airport and catch your departing flight. Although it’s time to say goodbye, the memories from your trip to Malawi will surely stay with you forever!
